Courtney Arrested for Murder

It would seem the law has finally caught up with Courtney. After training, while headed back to the castle, a handful of men produced a bounty for her arrest and shackled her, taking her off the grounds. Scarleta, returning from a swim in the river, noticed the arrest taking place.

The war committee, decided to go with Jaydin's idea about changing the ballista and he was creating bombs that fit into a hollowed arrow. It was guaranteed to make a nice distraction so that the army could rush in and start killing. Tara and Mordecai were put in charge of altering the ballista.

Faith and Brian approached Ravyn about the war. She explained it to them. Faith still believed they should 'talk' to the enemy and find out what is wrong. Brian tried explaining to her that the time for discussion was not after someone attacked, it was before. She still argued that she did not see the point in war. Not wishing to deal with it, Ravyn explained war was in order then went to get something to eat.

Frustrated, Faith went to check on Justice who was slowly dying of some illness that filled his lungs with fluid. It started two nights ago that he was cold, not acting his usual self. Then it sent him to the bed. The physician checked on him and Faith stayed with him all night and has barely left his side.

After Brian left from Ravyn, that was when Scarletta rushed over, telling him what happened to the short, dark-haired girl. She did not know Courtney's name just that she hung out with Mordecai often. Since she had not seen Mordecai, she told Brian what she witnessed. The two went in search of Tara.

They eventually found them (only getting lost once) at the ballista. Mordecai was fit to be tied, but it was agreed that Brian would bring her back, he would stay and vent his frustration on the hammering and altercations that needed to be finished. The three went rushing around to find Ravyn in that big castle.

Ravyn was told about the events that happened on her property and she promised them that she would get to the bottom of it. She sent two guards to find the two that were on duty. After they found them, she questioned them, finding out what happened. Courtney was arrested for murdering three people.

She sent the guards to round up Tara, Mordecai, Brian, and Scarleta and inform them they were going to be riding out to Flagstone to get her. She was supposed to sit before a trial that morning. Ravyn was taking twenty-five royal guards with her.

Meanwhile, Court was tossed into a dungeon cell. She was cold, sleeping on the ground with little hay, kicking rats all night. She had to fight the jailer as he tossed her around and then raped her.
